1979 was a monumental year in our world!  Margaret Thatcher became the first woman Prime Minister of the United Kingdom…Ugandan dictator Idi Amin was deposed…Pope John Paul II visited his native Poland, becoming the first Pope to visit a Communist country…Sony introduced the “Walkman”…South Africa granted independence to the “homeland” of Venda…the United States returned sovereignty of the Panama Canal to Panama…the rock band Pink Floyd released the mega-selling rock opera “The Wall”…AND…The Appleton Boychoir presented its first concert, beginning a tradition of excellence that has impacted thousands of children and families over three decades!
