Allison Thome,
holds a
Bachelor of Music – Music Therapy from the University of Wisconsin -
Eau Claire, and a Masters of Music - Music Therapy from The Florida
State University. Mrs. Thome also holds certifications in general
music methods K-8, instrumental methods K-12 and special education. In
addition, she holds a Kodaly Certificate from Silver Lake College and
Orff Schulwerk - Level 1 from Hamline University. She has held
registrations with the National Association for Music Therapy and
Board Certification with the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
Mrs. Thome is currently teaching elementary general music in the
Appleton Area School District. She was formerly the music therapist
with the Plamann School program in Appleton, WI and at Fairview South
School in Brookfield, WI. Prior to her employment within the
Brookfield School District, she developed the music therapy program at
Lakeland Nursing Home in Elkhorn, WI.
Mrs. Thome has extensive experience working with people of all ages
and enjoys cultivating rich musical experiences for her students. She
is currently the Coordinator of the Sunday School program at Christus
Church in Greenville, WI, as well as the Education Coordinator and
Director of the Christus Kids Choir.
Mrs. Thome has been active in promoting the arts for people with
special needs and is a former coordinator of programs for Very Special
Arts Wisconsin in the Fox Valley. She has organized numerous Artist in
Residence Programs, VSA Festivals and was also the director of the
Very Special Arts Choir. She was awarded the ARC Community Service
Award in 1992 for contributions made to members of the ARC community
in the Fox Valley.
Mrs. Thome currently holds affiliations with the Music Educators
National Conference, Association of Wisconsin Area Kodaly Educators,
the Organization of American Kodaly Educators and the Dalcroze
Society.
